ROSEMARIE Nelson was elected to Clarkston's City Council in June 2004 and November 2007 by popular vote. She worked on many boards and commissions to address public policy issues regarding the business and financial sectors and their impact on the quality of life. Continuing on, after an unsuccessful bid for Mayor in 2009, Rosemarie continues to support the community at large.

Rosemarie was great at fostering valuable partnerships with Clarkston and DeKalb County’s Public Safety and Public Works Departments to improve Clarkston’s aging infrastructure; storm drains, streets, signage, lighting, etc. Rosemarie also developed a positive relationship with DeKalb County's Economic Development & Community Development Departments and the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce. She has regular interactions with the DeKalb Legislative Committee. Moreover, she has also been involved in a number of projects including and not limited to:
